TomTom ONE - Old Model V New Model

I have an old TT1 and I have just upgraded to the new version and I thought I'd share my experiences and opinions of the 2 devices.

The new version, does look nicer but sadly that's about it. In my opinion it looses out in every other way!

1) It has a slower CPU and yes it is noticeable especially when the map is scrolling. The old TT scrolls very smoothly. The new TT is noticeably jittery in comparison.

2) Battery life...I have fully charged both devices and overnight and set them to run in demo mode from Manchester to Portsmouth. On every test I have done the new version switches off about 35-40 minutes before the old version.

3) The accessories with the new version feel cheap compared to its predecessor.

4) I Prefer the screen on the old model. The colours are more vibrant.

I have upgraded both devices to the latest software and although on the whole the software is much improved, a few things are worse than before....TomTom's speed cameras are no longer POIs so you can't manually assign sounds to them. The max speed of the road is displayed on the bottom of the map. If it actually appears it is wrong in about 40% of occasions (so why have it).

I really wanted to like the new TT1, but alas, it looks like I will be returning to the store I purchased it from next week.
