Hi
I have just bought the tomtom one v2 and I wondered if you could just use it as a guide to where you are as you are driving without giving a destination? If so how?
thanks

Yes you can.
Tap the Screen and make sure no Route is set. If it is Tap Clear Route. _________________ Richard

Yep, it's just a matter of turning it on and it'll just show you where you are. If you move then the map on the screen moves too.
A great feature I've found is that whether you have a route entered or not you can, at any time, just go to 'Browse Map', tap the current location icon, and the onscreen map then shows you your current location with the added ability of being able to zoom in or out or 'sliding' the map to show something else. Then when you're done, hit 'Done' and you're back at the regular location screen. It's great for when you arrive at an unknown place, say a town, for finding your way around the place. |

Only thing to watch out for is that if you are driving around with no route set, you might not get warnings for any speed cameras (or other POIs) that you have set up.
This is dependant on the "Warn only if on route" tick box when you set up the POI alerts - by TomTom's logic, if you don't have a route set, then nothing is 'on route'.
(You can un-tick the option, but then you get alerts for cameras/POIs on nearby roads too). |

Hi spankydata,
If you tap the screen (in the map area) you should get the main menu. If you tap the next screen arrow (OK it’s triangle ;)) then you should find the “Clear Route” icon. Tap the Clear Route icon and confirm to clear the route.
If you can’t find the “Clear Route” icon then tap the next screen arrow until you find it.
If you still can’t find it then you may be using a custom menu.

I think we're going to get this query a lot, now that more devices are being sent out with v6 software and this crazy menu-hiding option. |
