Hi,
I always use my TT One in 2D mode as I feel it gives me much more information and is easier to read than 3D view. I think that the 3D may be more appealing at first but when you use it after using 2D, I do find it severly lacking in knowing where you are and need to go if junctions are coming thick and fast.
However, whenever I pull up to another TT user in a queue of traffic, virtually all of them are using their units in £D view.
Just interested in what view you guys use and why?
Thanks |

Hi zzr1200,
I prefer 2D, as it gives a better accuracy when verifying the location of camera sites in the PGPSW camera database.
I very occasionally use 3D, just to have a different display – but I always revert back to 2D.

I've got used to the 3d view because tomtom 5 was unusable in 2d on my PDA as they never fixed the vga resolution issue and therefore the 2d view was like looking down for 5000 feet.
Have now stuck with 3d on my ONE as I rarely look at the screen cept a quick look before roundabouts etc... _________________ -----------------------------------------------------------

You're right in what you say, 2D is more informative, especially at junctions as you say and also where the cameras are as privateer says...
If I'm just doing round town stuff though, I do use 3d as I know (hopefully by now) where all the cameras are and where I'm going, but otherwise it's 2D for me! _________________ Steve

Have to admit I've only ever used the 3D view both on my Ipaqs and now on the TomTom 1 V1. I will have to try the 2D and see what difference it makes. |

I tried 3D mode on my old CoPilot system but I didn't like it.
Some people say they like 3D because it shows a more realistic view of the road ahead but I think 2D shows a lot more information and I prefer it.
Then again, I started using these things when 3D mode hadn't been invented do maybe I'm a bit old school... _________________ Gone fishing! |

2D for me, the display seems to update quicker at complex junctions. |

I too tried 2D for two trips. I found it easier to understand large/complex roundabouts but for normal roads I found it was distracting as it had too much detail. Also the road names covered up some road junctions. [This might be because the tt1v3 has a smaller screen?]
So back to 3D for me. |
