The iQue isn't available in the UK yet, so we can't get hold of a review unit. Once it's available, we'll have a unit for review (guaranteed!). |

Anyone tried out the new Garmin iQue 360 - looks a decent machine, but hoping for some "hands-on" user reviews
Anyone? |

Bought one 3 weeks ago-but it has been returned to Garmin for 1 week!
Problem 1-Shuts down after 3 minutes on cradle and on 12volt charger. Only corrected if you remove the security password/lock leaving the unit 'at risk'. This is a known fault. Try to navigate through the city if you have to switch it on every 3 minutes!
Problem 2- Shows 173 feet at sea level.
Problem 3- Switched itself on during the night [in the 'unlocked' state] and discharged the battery.
Don't think of buying one without a 12 volt charger [the battery discharges quickly while navigating], and at least a 128mb card is essential to load the full basemap and some of the detailed maps of UK.
You cannot [I cannot] use the PC with the iQue for routing, waypoints, & POI transfers.
The screen is difficult to see in bright sunlight, so it needs to be mounted below windscreen level [arial above windscreen level]
But it is not all negative- the mapping in colour is a great bonus and the 'turn by turn' routing is so easy to see. The 'night viewing' screen is very easy on the eyes.
With the problems corrected, it will be a great addition to the Garmin range |

Since the launch of the iQue, there have been updates on the Garmin website for ‘MapSource’, ‘MapInstall’, ‘Track Conduit’ and an iQue Patch 1 + iQue Patch 2.
Many of the initial problems have been eliminated WITHIN PATCH 2 [24/10/03] |

Could you give us any further details on this? Are you sure you are not confusing City Select with MapSource 6 (beta) which is available on garmin.com ? |

This is City Select v6 -[Free-Free] from Garmin Europe at Romsey England-number is in the iQue! Just phone them and ask for the free update CDs. It corrects many faults with the voice 'routing', especially on voice instructions at roundabouts. There is a great deal of updated detail for small towns in France/Italy.
This is nothing to do with Mapsource beta!

Just wondering, did you buy the iQue in the UK or USA? If you got it in the USA did Garmin in the UK honour the warranty without question?
Cheers! |
