I'd try a hard reset, using SirfTech.

Hi Cliff,

doh, bought a Palm Smile (or at least not stated the fact on your profile/sig file). Sorry, AFAIK SiRFTech, like many applications, won't run on a Palm PDA, only a PPC.

You may be able to reset the Haicom by removing the backup battery, or waiting for it to discharge (but this might take a long time). If the battery isn't removable, as a last resort you could try shorting it out briefly (a second or two).

Cheers, Alan.

hi alan,
i think i may be getting confused, i said palm but what i actually have is a HP1710 ipaq, (i don't think this is a palm after all, is it?), anyway if it's not then any ideas why the software won't ru?

Hi Cliff,

I reset my Holux (when necessary) using SiRFdemo on my PC. But I think I did once install SiRFTech successfully on my PPC, before an unintentional Hard Reset (i.e. flat battery Sad). I don't think I found the User Interface very intuitive. Did you downlaod the file from this page, Unzip, and follow the Installation section?

If you still have no success, I believe you can also use CE Monitor to reset a SiRF receiver (assuming that's the only problem with your GPS). BTW, don't try to use 56k baud with a Bluetooth GPS.

Cheers, Alan.
