Can anyone help, trying to find out if this pocket pc has had it or not. Using Navman jacket but get determining current position constantly. Have reset again and again but GPS co-ordinates just seem to stay on zero? I have just bought this and don't want to be landed with a lemon. Any help appreciated. (Nice forum by the way).
cheers

What is the software you are using? Is it Co Pilot, Smartpath or Smart ST Pro?

The Sleeve, on the front does it say Compaq Navigation, Navman or CoPilot ?

Basically CoPilot 1.2 now is a couple of years out of date. The sleeve technology that you have there did have problems due to the iPAQ being too close to the GPS Sleeve and this can cause processor interference on the iPAQ. I guess it depends on how much you have spent on it, and whether or not you want an up to date system, maps have changed twice over since. I suspect it's the Compaq iNS you have there.

For around £100+ you can get country specific maps and updated software (CoPilot is a little more expensive), and a GPS Receiver will set you back £80+ depending on the receiver you go for. Don't forget you need a mount in-car, but you can pick these up from as little as £8.

Thanks for quick reply Dave, and yes you are right it is the iNS. I have been looking at the latest offer at Aldi which can be seen here http://www.aldi.co.uk/specials_01_11/offers_nav.htm has an Intel Xscale 400mhz processor with 2x256mb cards and separate GPS receiver. Would this be a better prospect at 350 quid.

We haven't reviewed the Navigon software so I really can't say how it stacks up. I would suspect not as well as CoPilot, but I may be proven wrong.
