only getting gray bars in GPS status

Hi

using Ipaq 3850 TTN2 with GPSassist Pretec CF
system has been working fine until today..in GPS "page" TomTom Navigator GPS is in the top box,PRETEC Compact GPS is in the lower,box on left is ticked but GPS status shows only grey bars,no blue ones,so no sat. lock.
any ideas?
