|
|
Longish story but I have the Navigator software on a dvd with maps of Europe. Worked fine on my PDA. I've since acquired a TT ONE (the PDA came with my last job) but since I'm going to Italy in a couple of weeks would like to put the Italy map on the TT ONE. When I just copy the map from the DVD, it asks for an activation code so I go to the TT site, it gives me one and it won't work.
I believe this may have something to do with copyright etc? Alternatively, I've tried installing the whole DVD including the Navigator software on to the ONE, but as soon as I start the setup it tells me that I don't have the correct device attached to my PC.
Is there a way around this, or will I have to purchase the map again? |

You cannot install Windows software on a Linux device.
You can download the latest software for the ONE through the TomTom HOME program
But you still need to have legitimate maps and a valid product code. We do not need to hear your stories, understood? _________________ Lutz

I think Lutz is suggesting that a DVD with TT Navigator and maps of Europe on sounds very dodgy. This normally comes on a series of CDs. _________________ Peter

If you have a genuine copy of TTN5 with maps of Western Europe on your PPC as I did, you can remove it from your PPC, and using your activation code on the ttcode website register the maps for use with your ONE. It works fine for me! |

That's how they come, at least in Germany. You can get them on ebay and they are genuine. |

You must have a part number printed on the product - something like 9A00.XXXX, could you let us know what it is. "E-bay" and "genuine" can rarely be used together when talking about TomTom. |

We'll have to watch the final price of this auction. Anything under 150 € would be highly fishy. _________________ Lutz

Nothing at all, apart from the fact that TomTom themselves are not aware of this product - it's a fake, the part number 9A00.004 does not match the product. Here is an extract from my e-mail conversation with one of the product managers in Amsterdam:
me: It's not a pirated version by any chance?
TT pm: That's what I mean by "something else" |

IF they were pirate copies then TT would have done something about it by now. As a minumum they would have had the ebay ad pulled.
Didn't I read that somewhere in Europe TT were actually selling Ones with this DVD? |

You seem to be talking about some other TomTom - sleek and efficient, not the one in Amsterdam.
I know at least three places on the internet (apart from the p2p places) where you can download any maps and any cracks for TomTom Navigator you can think of. The funny thing that TomTom also know about them and they haven't done anything about that for the last three months.
