Help!

I have just purchased a Rider from a major motorcycle dealer in Exeter who told me that the unit came with basic European maps! They lied I arrived with the unit still in the box in Gibraltar only to find that the unit was only equipped with UK maps. The TomTom web site is absolute rubbish and I found their email customer service pathetic.

I gave up and purchased the Western European maps online. That was great until I realised the size of the downloads and I am on 256k in Gibraltar! Then my computer crashed and I discovered to my horror that TomTom only give you 24 hours in which to download your 80 quids worth! The question must be WHY when the software is keyed what is the point in being so tiny minded? I have two TomTom’s a 300 and a 700 that I purchased about one year ago and to find out that I have put my money where my mouth is to be dumped within 24 hours seems to be totally unjust!

Be warned it would appear that they are after you money with little regard for customer service!

I have downloaded France, Iberia, Benelux, and the general group but have missed out on Italy and the GB maps. I have then discovered that now I have installed the Iberia maps and dumped my GB maps (after a back up) that the unit can plan me a journey all the way back to the UK? The overview map shows Spain and Portugal in a different colour does this mean that the information on the other maps is limited? I have purchased a 2 gig SD card but I find I can only load one map at a time. Should I load each country map each time I need it to obtain the best detail? What size SD cards should I need to store the maps as this exercise is going to become tiresome very quickly as I travel frequently down through France and Spain which are different maps?

On that point is there a site similar to pocket GPS that will allow me to download the French traffic cameras?

Has anyone else been chewed off by TomTom is there anyone you can appeal to? For your 80 quid do you get a CD through the mail or is that a step to far in the customer service area?

A very skeptical TomTom customer who has shown brand loyalty for an otherwise excellent range of products.

I have an idea that would beat the pants off their version of Bluetooth but why give it away?

Any help any suggestions very welcome
