|
|
I have just purchased a 512sd card for my TOM TOM one. I have copied the original tomtom card with GB maps to my new sd card.
When inserting the card and switching on the tomtom, it just gives me a animation of the card being ejected followed by a cross...
any ideas what i have done wrong??
should i have formatted the new card first?
thanks in advance for any advice |

Did you remember to 'Show hidden files' ? If not you may have missed one or two.
Tools - Folder Options - View - Show hidden files and folders. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

Yes i did that and also unchecked hidden extensions, but yet still not working.
I have formatted the new card and am currently backing up my old card by connecting my tomtom one and using tomtom software rather than just drag and drop from the sd card reader, i am then going to try and copy directly from this folder to my new card.
The card that I have bought is a Peak 512! does anyone know if they are compatible with the tomtom??
Could anyone recommend a 512 SD card that will work....
thanks |

I use Kingston 1GB SD Ultimate x133, the read/write is 20x compared to a normal cards 4x.
I've never had a problem with them in PDA's, Digital Cameras etc.
I usually buy from http://www.choicestationery.com/acatalog/Secured_Digital.html they don't appear to have the 512MB Ultimate at the moment but the 1GB is only £31.62. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property

TomTommyCooper - did you have any joy with the SD card problem? I'm having the same issue.
I have downloaded MOWE from the 6CDs that Tomtom supply and cannot get the card to work. The ONE will not get past the card error screen to allow me to register on the ttcode.com site.
If I clone the original GB card as a backup onto the new card via a card reader/writer then this works without difficulty so I do not see it as a card problem. Any ideas? |

What card make are you using? My errors occured with the "PEAK 512" sd card.
Tried everything i could think of but with no luck. I have just ordered a new "DATAWRITE" 512sd card, on the site it says it is compatible with navigation systems and am gonna give it a try when it arrives tomorrow!
I'll let you know how I get on... |

£30 seems a lot for a 1GB card these days. Google to find cards on-line, but here is a typical choice of cards from one supplier I have used recently:

I've used a 2gb My flash speedy SD from Aria http://www.aria.co.uk/ProductsList.asp?Category=181&SubCat=MEP-SDG
£27.97 plus postage.
I have now got the thing working with much perseverance and messing about.
After formatting, I cloned the original GB card by dragging and dropping via the card reader/writer to give me an exact copy. I then Put the cloned card into the ONE and loaded the maps off CD as shown in the instructions as I had done previously. Bingo - it works!. Can't explain it, someone may be able to |

The Standard 1GB Card is only £23.43, The £31.62 is for the faster Ultimate Card. 20x Read/Write compared to 4x. _________________ Formerly known as Lost_Property
