Hi All,

I'm thinking of buying an external antenna for my i3. I have seen this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=9743443211
and this from maplins http://www.maplin.co.uk/search.aspx?MenuNo=1428&MenuName=GSM+%26amp%3b+GPS+Antenna&worldid=5&FromMenu=y&doy=24m5

What's the difference between active and passive antennae ? Can anyone give a recommendation for either product ?

pretty sure active needs a power supply where-as passive does not..go for the maplins one ..alot of forum members have got this one and it performs well..and you can take it back if it go's wrong..

As per zogman's comments my understanding also that active was powered Exclamation

Looking at both the links the antenna are both the same (much of a muchness) but the ebay offering has an option for a 90 degree (right angle) connection and given that the connection is on the side of the I3 this will look better.

I have the Maplin antenna and it works well but then again the ebay offering would as well.

I have the EBay one and went for the right angle connector which gives a neater fitting. Wors really well holding onto signals better in town and acquiring sats better first thing in a morning.
