Hi,
I'm not sure whether this is the right place to post this but:
I have an IPAQ 3970 and a Socket BT GPS, using TOM TOM GPS software.
I have just come back from a holiday in Turkey where I have been unable to use the GPS. The IPAQ found the Socket GPS in Blue tooth Manager, but when it tried to connect to it, the IPAQ locked up.
I tried messing with it just about everyday for the 2 weeks I was out there and same thing happened time and time again. I convinced myself that the Socket GPS was knackered.
However, now I am back home the whole thing works fine again.
Is there anything I should have done to change the settings on anything while I was away?
Thanks in advance for any help.

No, it should have worked just fine. Had you knowingly switched it to SiRF mode ?
If not, then it maybe what you're experiencing is a faulty unit, I seem to recall another unit behaving like this, and it did eventually die. |

Thanks dave,
Can't comment on the SIRF mode thing - but I doubt it as its not on SIRF mode now and I didn't change anything whatsoever to get it working on my return to the UK.
I have subsequently read the reports about dodgey BT GPS units and particularly the problems that Locktight had as they are remarkably similar. One difference is that I am certain that my green light was flashing, not permantly on.
Anyhow all works and life is wonderful now - I'm just a bit miffed that having spent £100 on Maptech Marine Charts for the Turkish coast, I couldn't use them. Only solution is to jump on a plane to Turkey at the earliest oppertunity!
