Reset Appplication?

I'm off to Florida in August...(yippee) I have already bought and installed my maps onto my Tomtom one.

Yet, I'm hearing these horror stories of how long it may take to get a fix having travelled such distance with the unit turned off.

I'm quite confident at setting up my own menus and am thinking "would it be worth putting "exit application" onto my menu"? The reason behind this is when I do have it there and select it, it seems to reset my machine reducing all sat fixes to zero then finding them again?

any thoughts/views/alternative ideas?
