|
|
Hi!
I'm running TTN2 on a Toshiba e570 with a Rikaline 9090 receiver.
This system is sometimes working fine, but most of the time TomTom says "GPS position unreliable", although I think I have a fix. At least the GPS applet in the settings area (also startable from within TTN) shows a position, a reasonable speed and several red bars. That meansI've got a fix, right?
I've tried re-starting TTN, soft resetting the PDA, resetting the GPS (unplugged it), nothing of this seems to help.
Sometimes it starts working again, but I haven't found a way to reproduce that :-(
This happens almost alwyas after unplugging and re-plugging the PDA. Avoiding this is no option - won't leave the PDA in car all the time...
BTW: While looking for help, I found some post regarding old/new versions of the GPS driver. How can I determine which version Ihave installed?
Any help is most appreciated!
Kind regards,

I was neither off the roads, nor did it recover - last time I drove around abt. 30min. and it was still the same :-( |

This has happneed to me a couple of times. I have been in the GPS status and it says connected to 7 sats all red.
To get around this i exit TOMTOM application and restart it. This normally works however i have done it before where it has not i had to do a soft reset |

try setting your receiver to NMEA mode and check if the problem goes away. _________________ Lutz

Thanks! Could you give me a hint how I can do this with a Rikaline 9090 (Evermore chipset) and a Pocket PC?
The vendor told me the same and sent me a PC application together with a PDF that says the program is meant for re-programming SIRF receivers?!?
(Note: I haven't got a cable for the PC...)
Thanks for all the replies, that's a great forum here!

Hi, I've been having the same problem with a Fortuna U2 and Toshiba E335/E755 PDAs. The solution that works for me is to switch to map view and then back to navigator. It seems to kick it into life somehow!
Inconvenient but it kinda works... |

I use a Delorme Earthmate with a Toshiba E755 PDA. I have the exact same problem and Iuse the exact same solution - switch to map view, then to navigator. Works everytime. |

Hi guys,
I have exactly the same problem with a Toshiba e740 and a Pretec CompactGPS.
I used to switch to map mode and then back to navigator too, but then I found a slightly quicker/easier solution...
Map one of the hardware buttons to Show/Hide map. Press it once to hide the map, then again to show the map. This kicks the Navigator screen into action every time. You can do this without taking your eyes off the road
Cheers,
Paul |
