So I buy a 510 thinking I'll rarely use the other maps of the other models. I'm off to the USA in a couple of weeks and would like to download the section of the US I am visiting to make driving easier.

TT Home and even the website ask me what model TomTom I have before I can download the relevant map. I answer and tell it I've got a 510. It goes all the way to the checkout, and I assume is going to let me download the map.

Ringing TomTom to check that the maps are compatable with the new models and specifically my 510 they tell me they aren't.

So why does the software and the website ask me what model I'm using? And why doesn't it warn me that the 30 quid I'm about to spend will be wasted because the maps are not compatable!?

AND why are there no compatable USA maps for my 510????

So I'm torn between thinking the supprt guys at TomTom are talking nonsense, and thinking they're right.

So do I download or not? Has anyone done this?

Thanks

T

Any ideas anyone?

I have no specific proof, but gut instinct is that TT support are talking out of their A***s again!
Apart from the Navteq map for the Rider, I'm sure any map will work with any TomTom.
