|
|
Hi...in comparison to some who have problems with the mount falling off the windscreen...mine's get molded on...I haven't been able to get it off and had to remove the i3 by pulling it out of the ball and socket joint...leaving the mount on the windscreen.
I've now had a chance to try harder to get it off...but that's just caused some damage to the mount...if I continue I'm going to leave some of the mount on the windscreen and the rest torn on the mount - it obviously needs replacing....will garmin replace do you think...and of not what sites do you recommend for a replacement?
Thanks _________________ Garmin i3

I'm sure they will send you a replacement out FOC if not then the link in the previous post is the cheapest (I can remember searching when the original post was made)
When you were trying to remove you were pulling/lifting the little tab when mine was new once had to use my finger nail to lift the edge of the rubber to break the seal, been ok ever since. |

Are you pulling the little rubber flap at the bottom?
This helps break the suction |

Thanks for additional info...
Yes I released the lever and then tried to pull the rubber tab...but it didn't budge it...I tried to loosen it...but as it finally started to come away it left a small residue of some of the rubber suction mount on the screen...then began to tear - so stopped at that point till I had some form of a replacement! _________________ Garmin i3

If this is true then when your new mount arrives I don't think you will have the same problem again (you won't have them long enough).
Have you not heeded the warnings about leaving the Gps or Mount in view when the vehicle is un-accompanied, you have been lucky the vehicle has not been broken into and its not been stolen, you might not be next time |

I never said it was unaccompanied! But I take your point! _________________ Garmin i3

Do you live in your car, then? ;-)
Or do you just kennel a ferocious dog in there... |

Lester you have made my day , brought back memory's of when we left our dog in the rear of the car while we went for breakfast in Wales. While we were away there was wild roaming donkies who used to come into the area searching for food. What happened next was they came up to the car and the dog went beserk to get out and get them.
The result was the roof lining parted company with the car, when looking in to the car it looked like a snow storm (those glass balls with liquid in you shake)
So moral to the story the ferocious dog may be better trained to give the thief the GPS rather than rip your car to bits protecting it! |
