Hi,
This may be a silly question but ...
I have purchased the latest GB map for TTN5. The "Self extracting" Installation file just seems to try and load Active Sync 4.1 for the nth time, and does nothing else!!
I had a similar problem with the 4.21 upgrade which behaved the same way, but I got round this by downloading the zip file.
Must I do the same with the map? Have I missed something somewhere?
Why does the program not recognise that Active Sync is already installed and perform the upgrade??
Advice appreciated _________________ Leigh

Hi all,
I decided to download the zip file anyway, what's another 200Mb download between friends.
With that the installation works just fine.
What is the point of the exe file if it does not work?
Just seems to be there to infuriate users _________________ Leigh

If the TomTom installer launches another program and not the...well...TomTom installer, that means you have another file named setup.exe in the directory where you downloaded the installer to (typically the desktop).
The TomTom Installer launches the other program because it mistakenly sees a valid setup.exe (not knowing it's not the TomTom setup file) and uses that instead of extracting/using its own, correct file.
Workaround is easy: delete the files in the place you downloaded to. This is vastly easier if you download to a separate directory, like C:\Temp\ , and NOT directly to your desktop. |

Thanks for the explanation, at least there is a valid explanation for the apparent illogicality of the Tom Tom upgrade!!
I will make sure I do as you suggest in future. _________________ Leigh

Haha~ No problem. It was doing that to me, too. It took me literally an hour of going nuts thinking there was something wrong with my system before I looked at the files in the installers. :-) |
