Does anybody know if the Benelux maps extend as far as Calais. For example will I be able to navigate from Eurotunnel to a destination in Netherlands without changing cards? |

the benelux countries are belgium netherlands and luxembourg..so i dont think calias would be on it..but the i3 has main european roads on it so it should take you from the uk to belgium.... _________________ *************************** |

The UK card does have cross border mapping with street level detail into Northern France. You would expect a similar overlap for the Benelux card. The UK card goes all the way to the French/Belgian border at street level detail so if you navigate to the border and then swap cards everything will work OK. However, as I mention above there should be some overlap, if it were to Calais then that would be more useful I'll admit. Would be handy if there was a resource on the Garmin site that showed a map of what's covered by each card, maybe there is but I can't find it.
Alternatively you could add a custom Favourite using easyGPS for initial destination in Belgium (could be your first rest stop) and then navigate using the base-map assuming that you use major roads only. I've only tried this in simulation mode but it works OK. Then put your Benelux card in. _________________ Chas

the garmin site suggests that the base map is routable..probably only the very main roads... _________________ *************************** |

I can confirm that the base maps are routable. They are mostly main roads but not only. You can input poi's and be guided to them.
Cheers,
