I've had recent experience of buying some computer hardware from Dabs. This company operates a policy of not being contactable at all by phone, which means that they can (and will) completely ignore your e-mails. They charged for next-day delivery, despite not dispatching until 1 day late - on a Friday, so not actually delivered until Monday! So far, e-mails have gone unanswered....
Dabs used to have a good name and were good for price - now their customer service is widely recognised as 'somewhat wanting' and prices aren't particularly good.
You've been warned![/i] |

I have bought many things regularly over many years from Dabs, and would say that their service was second to none. It was also second to none in the single case where it went wrong - I doubt if anyone could have been worse! |

2 brothers that used to work for BT, so I do know a fair bit about the company! And, of course, my own personal experience - accepting that with any company the 'product' can fail, but it's what happens when you try and get it put right that is truly the test of a company's service culture. Cataloguing the problems would take too long, be far too boring for most readers and wouldn't even be cathartic for me.
So, original point - if DABS is now owned by BT, it really, really does not mean that their customer service will improve by leaps and bounds (but, in my view, couldn't get much worse!) _________________ TT GO app on Android Phone

Terrible company.
I've had several bad experiences with them - I even had to get the manufacturer to intervene in 1 instance when they refused to recognise a guarantee (faulty joystick 3 weeks old).
I had a Western Digital Raptor fail. They refused to answer my e-mails. In the end I had to send it direct to Western Digital in Germany at my own expense to get a replacement.
I've used Misco, Overclockers, Savastore, Amazon. None of the others even come close for bad service! In fact most in that list are quite good.
My own personal opinion is steer clear of Dabs. I won't ever buy from Dabs again. |

Thought I'd update this thread because yet again we've had some fun'n'games with some failing hardware purchased from Dabs that had to be returned. The saga is sadly familiar and far too long and tedious to relate here; suffice it to say that Dabs have been, ah, 'less than entirely helpful' and guilty of some 'factual inexactitudes'. They are no longer the cheapest kids on the block, so, believe, there are better retailers that you might wish to choose. If Dabs are now owned by BT, perhaps it's a customer care virus that's been passed on..... _________________ TT GO app on Android Phone

If the correct item arrives on time and undamaged, and doesn't develop a fault, then it's hard to distinguish one company from another. However, it's when you have any sort of problem; that usually sorts out the 'we've got your money, so what do we care' from 'you might buy from us again and/or tell your friends, so let's do our best to help you' type of company. Which is why, based on my experience, I won't be ordering from DABS again. Ever. But I don't suspect they care much about that, either.... _________________ TT GO app on Android Phone

I refuse to deal with any company that hide behind an email address as the only point of contact unless I can be assured that their service is good. Sadly the demand for ever lower prices has resulted in the loss of any real customer service and we're all guilty of chasing the lowest possible price without any consideration for what happens if things go awry. _________________ Darren Griffin |

OK. I've bought many items from Dabs (in the past) before and never had a problem. I even placed an order about 3pm a few weeks ago and it turned up the following day at 7am.
Like all big companies Dabs will have it's share of failures. No company that is as bad as has been painted here will last very long and Dabs have been in business quite a while.
Don't forget the old saying about bad service. When people get good service they tell 2 or 3 people when they get bad service they tell 9 or 10. Bad news always travels fast.
The only reason I rarely order from them any more is because their prices aren't as competitive as others. |
