The instructions below are for the 6300 but should be fine for the 6380 also. I would also like to give credit to gpspassion which is where a lot of the info below was gleaned from. If at any point things go wrong then you can put your system back to factory default by switching it off at the back. Please note that once you've made any changes that these will be lost if you either let your battery drain or switch your unit off with this main off switch. Just switch it off at the front and maybe use a backup program in case your battery goes flat.
1. Download the zip from
http://www.gpspassion.com/download/custom150e.zip
2. Connect the BM6300 to your PC via ActiveSync and click 'explore'
3. Upact the zip file then copy 'regedit.exe' from the .zip file and paste it into your MNAV folder on the BM6300 then rename MNAVDCE.exe to MNAVDCE.old and rename regedit.exe to MNAVDCE.exe
4. Copy 'modified.reg' into the 'MNAV' folder on the device
5. Soft Reset your device (there should be a reset hole on the left) using the stylus (unscrew the end of the stylus to reveal the reset pin!)
6. When the BM6300 reboots it will automatically launch Regedit. Click 'File | Import' and then locate the 'MNAV' folder in the files and folders selection list and double click to open. You will see the 'modified.reg' file we copied in Step 4, double-click to import, don't worry if nothing seems to happen.
7. delete regedit.exe and Copy 'showtaskbar.exe' from the .zip file and paste into \Windows\StartUp
8. Finally, reset your device once more with the stylus and it will boot to the WinCE desktop. If you hold your stylus at the bottom left of the screen on the thin grey bar the WinCE taskbar will appear and you will gain access to the standard WinCE apps.
:D Yay, you have turned your BM6300 into a WindowsCE4.2 terminal with the same functionalities as the shipping and are now free to install programs like TomTom. Be warned that once you startup Destinator the only way to shut it down is to do a reset. Also not all WinCE programs will work.
TomTom does work but you are better off disabling the POI's and just using the warn when near option for these. If TT does not lock onto satellites properly then follow the next step but please only change the settings as stated.
Satellites
----------
First close TomTom down then goto windows folder on device and run GPS_Monitor.exe (you may need to un-hide system files first), Go to the "Set" menu and select "NMEA Command" Now change any of these that need changing GGA=1, GLL=0, GSA=5, GSV=5, RMC=1, VTG=1
Select OK and then close GPS_Monitor now restart TomTom and all should be well after a few mins. :D |

Hi all, I have one of these things and have unlocked it as it says to above, all good so far, installed TomTom 6, still going well, when i configure the GPS Device I set it at 4800 baud on SP2 and it says it has found a GPS device. However even after following the satelite instructions above it only sometimes finds up to 3 satelites but the bars always stay grey they never go blue.
I had to download gps_monitor.exe as it appears not to be on my device (hidden or otherwise) and when i make the change if i go back in to the menu after having made it, the origional settings have returned.
Has anybody else experienced this? if so does anybody know how to fix it?
Cheers. |
