Creating my own POI's

I want to create a number of my own poi's. i have been suing the software provided by Navman, the Smart STDesktop and then the Map editor.

The problem i have is that when i enter the Navman to view my POI the map is just a Grey Checkered area with no detail.

I assume i'm typing in something incorrectly. The format i use is as follows

53 16' 49
2 26' 12

the 53 and the 2 both have a small circle above, these are the grid references taken from the navman maps.

I have followed the instructions in the booklet provided with the navman.

You need to enter latitude and longitude in decimal format, not minutes and seconds. There are online converters available. One is at

http://www.fcc.gov/mb/audio/bickel/DDDMMSS-decimal.html


Also , longitude West of the Greenwich meridian is entered with a minus sign.

So the Navman is translating your co-ordinates to be East of Greenwich meridian, probably in the North Sea.
