|
|
hi all
first post so here's hoping: having tried destinator 2 (d2) with my ipaq, i thought i'd try tomtom 2. i have the latest 2.24 upgrade and gps drivers installed, also i have installed the full uk maps.
my question is - or statement! - i live in cornwall and when i search for both camborne and redruth they are not listed, yet pool and illogan (2 small village areas) are listed. strangely, i found that inputting kerrier (which is a local council area covering camborne and redruth) and i could then input, say falmouth road, kerrier (which is in redruth!). am i supposed to know all 'district area' names in the country?!
also, i was also using the system for work recently and it failed to locate a road in dartmouth and again in exmouth. why is the map data so poor/inconsistent?!
i want to use tt2 as i like most of what it does, but if this continues its back to d2 for me!
thanks for reading. |

TomTom use TeleAtlas map data. If possible go to http://www.na.teleatlas.com/tomtommapreport.html and file a map error report. Hopefully this will resolve the map data problems you experience. There should be s new version of TomTom out next year with newer map data _________________ Lutz

You may get a reduced price, but the map business is a very tough one - free map updates do not make financial sense to the producers of navigation programs because they have to pay thousands and thousands of (your currency here) to the map data providers. _________________ Lutz

thanks for replies. i will have to assume that the map data is simply worse than d2's. oh well, uninstall ttn2 and put d2 back on the ipaq! |

This link seems to be just for North America. Is there one we can use for reporting errors in European maps?

No, that link is also accepting reports for the rest of the world. That's at least what TomTom have told me. _________________ Lutz
