Adding Map of France

I have Navigator 5 running on a HP hx2110. I was given a copy of the France Map by a friend who is running it fine on a Smartphone and followed instructions to copy it to the SD card folder alongside the GB map. I have also run the 5.2xx upgrade from the Tomtom website.

Having looked at other threads on the subject could this be a problem with downward compatability of maps? The last line in the pna file for my GB map is 562 and for the France map is 563 so they are consistent. UK map works fine.

Can anyone help?

PS I started out with Navman software - it was rubbish! Confused

I meant to add - the problem is that I can still only see the Great Britain map as an option when I go into Change preferences / Swap map option, eventhough both maps are on the SD card.

Both maps need to be in the root directory of the SD card, not inside the GB directory or the TomTom directory or anywhere else you thought might be a tidy place to put it.

Make sure the name is something like France_NavigatorMap (not sure on the exact syntax)

Also make sure that you have fully exited and restarted TomTom, by choosing exit application.

Also keep in mind you will need an activation code which will deprive your friend of one of his activations. Also your actions are completely illegal.
