Following TomTom's install instructions, I have downloaded the .exe to my desktop and double clicked on it. I get the error "No SETUP information found on disk or CD-ROM" I can't get past this...
Anyone have any ideas please?
Is it just me, or do other people find that TomTom's products never install as they should in accordance with their instructions...? |

In my opinion, the instructions leave a lot to be desired.......... _________________ -------------------------------------------------------

I used the zip file download and had no problems, but I'll have a look at the exe and let you know what happens.

Strange worked perfectly for me .
The file you downloaded should be a standard executeable zip file which will unpack to a temporary folder and then auto install, as I couldn't replicate your problem I would suggest you have three courses of action.
1. Try opening the exe file using winzip or a similar utility, extracting the files to a temporary folder of your own and then run the setup.exe file.
2. Download the zip version and proceed as above.
3. Contact TomTom (but I don't hold out much hope with this one) .
Regards

Are you doing this on the same PC that you originally installed TTN5 from? Might this be a pre-requisite to the upgrade |

No, I made my first installation at home, but the two updates (5.120 and 5.201) were made on a spare pc in the office.
Did setup execute at all? _________________ Samsung Note 20 ultra

I have not heard of any such limitation, and like our friendly and helpful comedian 7272Andy I do not encounter any problems with the Tomtom .exe file from their website.
We are talking about the same file aren't we? This one:
http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?Language=1&FID=3361
Seems like a problem with your PC - is there anything unusual about your setup? |

to avoid the obvious:
1. do you have a CD-rom in your drive? if so, remove it.
2. do you have HotSync installed
3. did you try to download the zip version instead, and still have the same problem? _________________ GO1005

Yup. I'll download it again, just in case...

I've not got this to install from the zip file :D Previously I was trying to run setup.exe from the compressed folder, which is never going to work. Couldn't get TomTom's upd .exe to work though...
I think that I saw a thread on here saying that 5.201 always installs to memory and never to the SD card and that the icon on the applications page might be pointing to the SD card and therefore never run the updated version. I seem to have this problem, but cannot find the thread again. Can anyone post the solution please?
Thanks |

Morning ianhb,
Sorry but I''ve neither seen the thread you are referring to nor have I heard of that problem, but I'm still pretty sure we can solve yours.
OK I have two questions:
Do you have a card reader on your PC?
Can you have a look in your TomTomMaps folder on your PC? This will be located somewhere like C:\Palm\your_device_name\TomTomMaps, the precise location will be dependent upon where your palm backup files are.
If the setup.exe has executed properly two files should now reside in this folder;
navigator.cab
navigator.ini
Can you confirm whether this is the case? _________________ Samsung Note 20 ultra

Yes and No ;)
I think I have solved my problem by reference to another thread. I found the CAB file in the upd521.zip folder and copied, renaming along the way, Munich.bin and data.chk to my SD card.
So, unless I have overlooked anything, I'm sorted for the moment.
Thanks for you help |
