Garmin i3s are becoming more difficult to locate with some shops saying they won't be receiving any more - personally, I was able to find one in Asda in Harlow (£148).
Does anyone know why this is happening, especially seeing as it has only been on sale for a relatively short period?
Are they being phased out to make way for a better model or have they been so successsful that Garmin have lost sales on their higher end products? |

Welcome. It is in my opinion one of the most desirable objects (and indeed best value for money) that anyone can have nowadays. Definitely one of Garmin's best success stories. |

I found one Garmin i3 (display unit) likely to have version 7 of the maps (you can update for free from Garmin). It is priced at £99 in Currys in Galashiels at the Scottish Borders if anyone is interested. You can probably give them a phone to reserve it and pick it up later. Hope this helps someone. |

I think people need to go back and read my original post.
I understand that the i3 is a great piece of kit and is very popular (I have one myself), however shops like Dixons, PC World etc. have sold all their stock and have said that they won't be getting any more in. There must be a reason for this. Have Garmin stopped making them, perhaps because it is taking sales from their higher end products or could there be something even better round the corner? |

When the stock was recalled by the wholesaler from the shops where my wife works it was because "the stock has been bought by another retailer".
Still i've got one. If something better comes along i'll still be happy with my i3.
I don't think there's anything to worry about. |

I think Greenbars has a point. Last month an assistant at Currys told me that on their computer the product line was marked "obsolete", i.e. they weren't planning on restocking/selling them any more. Maybe there just isn't enough profit margin on them!?! Or maybe Garmin has a new product in the wings. |

Just a rumour, but I've heard elsewhere that Halfords have recently bought up all the stock. |

Halfords are now selling them at £129.99 and throwing in a £10 voucher. I guess they are trying to be seen as THE place to go for sat-nav. From basic models up to high spec stuff. _________________ Garmin StreetPilot i3 v8 |
