What is the general consensus on the 2005 software and the new maps? I'm off down to Allicante next week and I'm wondering if I should pay the £100 to upgrade my existing European Edition unit. There doesn't sem to be much mention of it anywhere. Is the postcode search any better and what's the score with the new mapping graphics? I mean, do I really need to know where the railway lines are???

I've not upgraded my 510 yet. I've been travelling in France a fair bit over the early part of this year and I only had a few minor problems. My problems were mainly due to road junctions that had been upgraded (example, roundabouts that have been converted to over passes). This is just confusing and doesn't pose a real problem. The French seem keen to change roads , perhaps they have mor epublic money than us !

Personally I'm not sure whether it's worth shelling out the 100 quid to get an upgrade. My advice is to wait a few years for the later and greater versions to come along. maybe by that time you'll fancy buying some new hardware with the latest maps on instead.

I too am in this quandary but if I upgrade, then it will be to the new 530 but I'm awaiting other users views on it's benefits over my 510 (not updated) which is giving me good service. So far it's not guided me through rivers, over cliff edges or up one way streets, despite doing a few thousand miles in europe. I would like more mapping such as CZ, Slovenia and Croatia but I'm in the same boat as everyone else and will have to do without for a little longer. Wink
