|
|
I'm considering buying a replacement for my Roadpilot MicroGO and rather than buying a Origin B2 for £380 I thought a combined sat nav/gps cam locator would be better value.
Would you recommend buying either a Snooper Indago or RA Navigator? Alternatively would a sat nav system such as the Garmin Nuvi 300 be better value and work as well? This can be bought for £329 and I'd plan on using the speed cam database on this site.
Many thanks for all your help

I'd reccomend neither the Indigo nor the RA Navigator. They're poor nav devices and over priced considering the same can be achieved with a Garmin i3, Nuvi, c330 or any of the GO's for hald the price.
Even though we are introducing a subscription fee for our safety cameras it is £19/year compared with £60+ for Snooper and RA. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi Darren
I am able to get a trade-in on my Roadpilot MicroGO from a local retailer which is great but means I'm limited in choice, no TomTom systems unfortunately.
I have the choice of Navman iCN550, iCN520, Garmin C320 or the Nuvi 300. Which of these systems would you recommend for use with your database?
The database itself is excellent as I've used it previously on my Nokia 6630 using TomTom Mobile but am now wishing to have something more dedicated to sat nav.

of those I'd go with either of the Garmin's. The NUVI is the better but it may have features you do not require and hence the cheaper c320 may suffice. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Given the choice of the Nuvi 300 or a TomTom 300 which would you choose?
I can buy the TT300 for £279 and then privately sell my Roadpilot MicroGO for between £100 - £150 if the TT300 was the better option? |

I haven't seen a NUVI but have got a c320. They share the same interface with the NUVI adding stuff like language translations, guide books etc.
Personally I think the c320's interface and map is over simplistic and it doesn't offer me all the stuff I like.
I'd actually go for a TomTom ONE if you were looking to buy yourself. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Is there any real difference between the TT One and the TT300?
I have a heat reflective front windscreen which I know the ONE can cope with but I don't know if the 300 is also ok with this. |

The ONE is the better device IMHO. It has the far superior SiRFStarIII chipse and a smaller more pocketable case (same screen size). All it lacks over the 300 is a slightly less efficient speaker and a 3hr instead of a 5hr battery.
Consider the ONE the next generation. Unless the 300 can be bought for less then get the ONE. Heated screens generally don't cause an issue with older devices, athermic coated windscreens do and the 300 may not work The ONE will. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Thank you for all your help Darren, you've convinced me to choose the ONE rather than the other options. I'm used to the TomTom interface on my phone so it's probably the smart choice.
I'll sell the Roadpilot MicroGO privately.
