Go 700 - Republic of Ireland Maps

I recently bought a TomTom Go 700 unit. I spend a lot of time in Ireland and find the map (Western Europe) to be very vague, many roads and towns are missing. I used to use a Navteq based system, which had very detailed maps of Ireland. I have contacted TomTom and they have told me that the currently have no plans to develop maps of Ireland. Does anyone out there know if it's possible to use a 3rd party map with a TomTom unit?
