|
|
I bought the C510D last Dec and all was fine until I updated to 5.20 from the garmin website. I then stopped receiving any traffic reports at all (previously got them for up to 200-300 miles).
After a week I called Tech support and they confirmed this was a 'known issue' and that an update would soon follow to remedy this. I tried backdating to 4.10 but this wouldn't reverse the update with the GTM21 connector, so still no traffic reports.
I returned to Halfords who very kindly replaced the unit which works brilliantly and advised me not to update again to 5.20 until Garmin have posted a new update.
I am puzzled why the 5.20 update still shows on the website and if this has happened to anyone else. |

How did you update it? -- With Webupdater? .. The reason I ask, is because the V5.2.0 standalone updater only seemed to include the main firmware, whereas V4.1.0 and earlier contained separate updaters for other components. I've noticed that although you can go back to earlier firmware versions, there's no mechanism for falling back to earlier versions for the other components.
(BTW V4.1.0 is not a good version to stay on, on the grounds that it keeps crashing - V4.0.0 is a better bet if you don't want to upgrade to V5.2.0)

It's possible the latest GTM (traffic module) firmware is causing the lack of traffic - a new version is due out very soon which should hopefully fix it. If this is included within the v5.20 firmware, then it is understandable for them to say to not move to this version. _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

I used the Webupdater downloaded from the Garmin website last December. I wasn't aware that the webupdater itself had been updated since then!
I haven't suffered any crashes yet with 4.10 and will probably stick with it until I see confirmation that the new GTM firmware is ok. |
