TT5 on a Medion PPC250

Is there any reason why this won't work? A friend of mine has bought the Medion PPC250 and asked me to put TomTom5 on there. Its installed fine, but just says "No Valid GPS Device"

I have Medion PPC200 and it works fine on mine.

I tried the advice from this thread about the settings to use, but still no joy.

I've not tried the GPS monitor thingy yet.

I tried the PPC250 plugged into my GPS receiver (exactlty the same royaltek unit) and it worked. I suspected a faulty GPS receiver. My friend then got a new one from Medion, and it shows the same error on his. The tech support at Medion told him TT5 does not work on the PPC250.
