I have tried to update the Camera POIs on my Navman 570 (SmartST 2005) which came with them preloaded. I have carefully followed the instructions both from this site and Navman's, and after instruction 7 (pocketgpsworld - Navman V3) clicking OK returns the message "No storage device found". I have tried some of the other advice on this forum, but to no avail. Using the POI editor, I have tried to enter a single POI using the Editor, but after chosing "Save to Device", I get the same message. Using Windows Explorer I can open the SD card and I have loaded a .wma file onto the card and played it on the PDA as well as making a backup of the card.
Any suggestions, please. |

Problem solved!
Re-installed ActiveSync & SmartST Desktop for THIRD time.
May have been a problem with Zonealarm.

SmartSt does seem to be a bit "delicate", most of the time I can't get it to read the PiN correctly if I start SmartST after the PiN is already connected to the USB. no maps are shown as active etc.
If I start SmartST first and wait for the prompt to connect the PiN, and then cannect it up, it will find the unit no problem, map information is there, the POI edit function will work and so on.
As far as I can see active sync is OK, and smartST is installed correctly.(and yes I have uninstalled and re-installed this all 3 times over - same everytime.) go figure eh?

I have an occasional problem with the connection on the PPC and the USB cable, which results in ActiveSyn not firing up.
But I connect my PPC (switched off) to my desktop PC directly via USB, and not a USB hub/card reader, which it doesn't like. This then starts up my PPC and fires up ActiveSyn on both. After 'syncing', open up SMartST Desktop. Everything working fine now, including Custom POI which wouldn't co-operate before.
Don't forget to close ActiveSync on the PPC before switching off.
I have noticed that ActiveSyn requests permission from Zonealarm to connect to the Internet before it will run properly!!!!!! _________________ Chris Pearson |
