GO 500 LOCKED UP ON SPLASH SCREEN.

I have a GO 500 that has locked up on the splash screen and can not turn off unless you reset it but on power up it again locks on the splash screen.

It did the same last November. I at this time noticed the update at the Tom Tom site so updated my unit and this cleared the problem up. Have tryed this againg but did not work for me. The strange thing is thinking about it is, back in november I not only had to update my copy sd card but even the original but have tryed software this time in a friends unit and it works. My point is last time it looked like the softwae locked up the go but it works fine in another unit.

I'm at a loss. I think I may have seen a thread in the past about this put could not find it in search.

Don't you have a back up of your SD Card?

Yes I do and it does not work in my unit but works fine in a frinds go.

Can you take the splash.bmp off the SD card and see if that works OK.

If it does, it can only be presumed that there is an error in the bmp.

Hi Oidboy. I removed the splash screen but it still looks up but now on the red hands screen. When I reset it I get the red hands with drum sound then the screen with pic of a GO with the yellow bar to show that sd card is loading then locks up on splash screen.

Have tryed my software in another unit which works. I have also tryed software from a friend which also locks up.

Happened to me last November but down loaded the firmware up date which kicked it back into life, that did not help this time.

Contacted Tom Tom and it will be picked up by UPS tomorrow.

This is my 3rd unit in just over a year to pack up on me. Two GO Mk 1 and now a 500. How lucky is that.
