I think it should say something like

If you select Yes then it would shut down.
I think the legal bods must have insisted that it be there so Garmin don't get sued. As far as I know, you can't switch it off. I agree that the warning is annoying though. _________________ Gone fishing! |

It indeed can't be switched off (unless you want to tamper with the firmware itself), for legal purposes.
