Tom Tom One Files

When powering my Tom Tom One off the other day it would not power back up again until I reset the unit. I decided to copy the files from the supplied SD card and reformat it just to make sure it was okay then I notice a file called data.chk at 1090kb. The file type says recovered file fragments should this file be there? because if I don't copy it back to the card the Tom Tom One will not work.

Windows sees files with the .chk extension as fragment recovered files. However, to the TomTom they are not! So yes, your TomTom needs them :D

The data.chk file in the root of your sd card contains the audio files for your poi warning sounds. Your device will not boot with a missing or corrupt data.chk.
You will also find some data.chk files with numbers after them (data05.chk) these files contain the navigation voice files.
