etrex sealing

For some time my etrex was positioned next to the air vent on my car. As a result the rubber sealing round the device seems to have expanded slightly meaning that parts of sealing don't stick down. Are there any solutions to this problem?

My Legend C spent one sunny vacationday on the windowsill in my apartment, with the same result. The rubbersealing expanded almost one extra centimeter and the glue also to lost its ability to stick.

Its a design-flaw of these Extrex-models; partly due the choice of rubber/glue, and partly due the whole idea of a relatively thin unflexible "rubberband" wrapping the whole unit lengthwise. Its obviously not the best and the brightest design-solution.
