Newbie - Knowledge Needed!

I'm looking to buy some form of GPS gadget and was hoping for adive from the many users here.

I basicall can't decide which route to go down, sat nav on mobile, hand-held recreational gps or pda.

In the first instance I need something that is going to give me a OS grid ref for current location so i can match my location to a paper map. a bonus would also be in-car directions navigation. I also like the idea of using memory map at some point but they only work on PDAs? I don;t think I would use any of the other functionality on a PDa so that is my least favourite option at the moment. with the odea being something to work on a smart phone like Tom Tom mobile 5 but that won't give me an OS grid ref will it?

Any help most appreciated.

If OS Grids and Topgraphic maps are a must have then PPC is the only route open to you (or PalmOS).

The OS Grid is most important, Topgraphic maps is by no means essential...
