|
|
Hi
I have TT5 running on my PPC with Great Britain maps installed. :D
I do not have the map install wizard & am trying to copy additional maps from my PC to the root directory of the SD card.
When I do this, the new map never gets found by the "switch map" facility.
Is there a "special" format the folder needs to be? They end in "-map", with the country name in the front.
Or do I need to create or copy text files to any other directories to help TT5 know additional maps are installed?
Please help.
Thanks |

The Map Install Program comes as part of the Map CD. With the TTN5 it is 1 of a 6 CD set, with the install program on each CD. _________________ Richard

I don't have the install wizard at all though.
That's the reason I need to do it manually. |

I think the "included" TT install program will allow you copy useable maps to your HD so they can be copied to the PPC quickly later. Not sure why you can't locate the install program as it is present with each map.
Are sure you acquired the map CD from a legitimate source? If so, just insert it and will autoplay the map installer. |

I have a legit copy of Tomtom 5. Have ActiveSync 4 which is not compatible. I got TomTom5 installed to my PDA (I-Mate JasJar) by copying the CAB files for the PPC installation manually and executing the CAB files on the PDA itself. TomTom is now working fine...only problem I am having is that I can't install the maps via the installation CD. But the CD allows you to "extract" them to an alternate place. I don't know where to move them to. I tried moving them to the root of the SD card but on TomTom's initial start, when it's running through the wizard, it doesn't see the maps. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

When TT installs the maps to your PC it creates a Folder at the location you specify. It is the whole Folder that you have to Copy to the SD card. _________________ Richard

Use an SD card addapter, that way when you run the installer you can target the SD card directly, once loaded put the card back in the Exec and you should be OK, have you got the GPS icon visable in start/ settings/ connections ? Mike |
