Hi
I sometimes use my ICN520 when I am towing my caravan and it comes up with some strange routes.

Sends me through little villages with single car width tracks (supposed to be roads) just to save 2min or 2 mile when If had stayed on the same major road there would have been no problem. Tried all different settings in the routing options but no luck.

When on quickest option all the to the left and the unit cuts me through a village If I force it to keep on the major `A` road with multi trip the route summary can turn out quicker with the multi trip

I thought first couple of times was a one offs but looked into it more and made some routes up to test it and it is like it all the time.

Please help if you can it is making towing worse with it than using a paper map.

Thanks

Have you tried using the avoid boxes? i.e. avoid unsurfaced roads etc.

Try resetting the routing settings to default and use the avoid options above, as they do work well on my unit.

i do wish though tha navman could have allowed you to save multiple routing options, as sometimes it is useful to change the options mid route, in particular in central london to navigate around the usual urban road congestion, and you end up having to pull up change the settings and reenter your destination to recompute the route.

yes I have tried unsurfaced roads but still no luck.
Like you say I have to pre inspect my routes and alter the settings and insert multistops to get it to stick to a basic route.

What I cant understand is when I have it on the fastest route setting I can make it stick to a major road that it tried to come off and reduce the time difference by a few minutes Confused

Thanks for the help dilemma
