Hi
I'm a bit confused by Garmin's product registration page.
To register I select the "Garmin Unit or Accessory " on the following page
https://www.garmin.com/registration/selectreg.jsp
Select the I3 then it asks for the following as a mandotory field...
Registration:
Please enter your Product Registration Code provided with your Deluxe package documentation. (This code appears on a sheet of paper that is in the unit packaging
The only code I have is the serial no in the battery compartment (also printed on the box) but it does not fit into the code entry box on the webpage as is one digit too long?
How have the rest of you manage to register the thing? Am I missing someting in the box?
Thanks |

I see what you mean, can't understand this as i registered about a month ago & had no problem, as i say i recieved an email back confirming my registration which they included my 8 serial numbers.
Maybe they only want the first 7 numbers? Did'nt really check mine to see if they only accepted the first 7 only.
Have you tried going through the whole registration putting in the first 7 numbers, does it let you register? |

I emailed (quoting my i3's serial number) to Garmin because of the same problem registering on-line and got this reply back...
Good Morning,
Thank you for contacting Garmin Europe.
In regard to your email, there is no need to register your i3 at this time
as there are no benefits or reason to do so. If necessary you can provide
your units serial number and we will forward you your coupon code to
register the unit.
If you have any further questions please let me know.
Regards,

This is the email i received from Garmin when i registered but as you can see i did not recieve any coupon code. Blanked out details for obvious reasons.

Hi everyone,
Many thanks to all those who replied with advice.
How strange, different people seem to be getting different advice from Garmin!
I e-mailed Garmin and they have e-mailed me back the code I need to enter on the registration page, therefore I recommend to anyone who thinks they have registered properly to double check they have used the correct code! The code they have sent back is a totally different format!
The codes differ as follows (number/letter combination shown)
Code on unit/box: 00000000
Code they have mailed me ("coupon code"): 0AAAA0A
The coupon code (the one you register the unit with) is a mixture of letters and numbers whereas the serial number on unit is just numbers.
I think there has been a cock-up by the manufacturer in not providing the coupon code in the box. I can't see how they can say there is no benefit of registering the product; surely you are not entitled to the 12 month warranty otherwise!?
Thanks once again. |

I would have thought that a copy of a dated sales receipt from the place of purchase would be all that was needed, should a warranty claim ever be necessary.... I hope it won't be though! |

although i did try to register my i3 ,i've never registered any other product that i have brought...some things i brought have gone wrong within the 12 months of ownership and i've just gone back to the store and got a replacement .....even with the garmin proposed card exchange i think a receipt will be all you need... _________________ *************************** |

I too have exchanged a couple of emails with Garmin about this. The first response simply directed me to the Registration page (very helpful), the second asked me to reply with my unit number & "I will register it for you". It seems you get different responses depending on who you talk to at Garmin. |
