If you create a folder on your SD card and put your voices in there, they should work.
Put your POI files straight into the map foder. Ensure that there are 2 files per POI (one .ov2 adn one .bmp) the names have to be the same.
For example Mcdonalds would have these two files:
Mcdonalds.bmp
Mcdonalds.ov2
You then need to go into tomtom, change preferences, enable / disable POI's and ensure the relevant POI is checked.
If the POI's are still not showing, it could mean that you have too many POI categories. I believe you are allowed 40 customised POI categories.
Hope this helps |

C. Connect your tomtom go to the computer with your USB cable.
i.e.. Click the Start logo [usually] at the bottom left of your screen & then click on “my computer” and you should see the tomtom under Devices with Removable Storage with a little icon:
Double click on the icon (as pictured above) and the Tom Tom's folder view will open.
D. If you have a folder labelled “voices”, double click it. Then proceed to step F, otherwise goto Step E
E. You need to store you voice files in the root folder (the first folder you see, after following Step C).
F. Copy any of the voice files from the folder and paste into the folder selected in steps D or E (i.e. copy all the files from that folder data96.chk and data96.bmp and data96.vif).
G. Repeat for as many voices as you like.
H. After pasting the last voice wait 30 seconds (after copying has completed) and remove your USB cable.
I. Your TomTom will now re-boot and the voices will be available to select.
Ps. Make sure that the voices are numbered below 100.
Let me know how you get on |

Still struggling to get them to work.
Should they be stored in the Tomtom folder or the mpa folder? |

Once your PDA is connected to your computer, click on start, Mobile Device. This is where you create your new folder called 'voices'. In this folder you put the voices you want to install.
If this does not work, try copying the voices direct into the map folder (where you copied the POI files) I hear that sometimes works as well. Failing that, the voices may be corrupt and they will not work if that is the case.
Please see your PM. |

have you got 3 files per voice?
You should have :
data??.bmp
data??.chk
data??.vif
(where the ?? represents a number) |

My other than OEM voices are in:
Mobile Device\My Pocket PC\Storage Card\TomTom Navigator
in other words, the folder that TomTom Navigator.exe is located. |

That may be why you are not able to see them as the .bmp is the picture of the voice. Are you not able to select any voices?? |

If we're talking TomTom 5 or GO then you can't use .wav's. See here for the solution. _________________ Darren Griffin |
