just looked on tomtom and surprise surprise my subscription hasn't been extended - surely they could/should have done this when they sent the email?
Anyone had more luck?

I'm on a trial too, but I got the eMail about extending the subscription period.
It looks like they have had problems with the website and stuff recently, so maybe it will take a day or two for the extensions to kick in? I suspect I'm clutching at straws, and my trial, which I think is due to end tomorrow will probably expire before the month is added on...
Cheers,
Steve. |

My subscription has not been extended either. I renewed recently (before the outage) when my 12-month subscription was nearing its end. It was due to expire 3 Sept 2005, my renewal took it to 3 Sept 2006 and there it has stayed despite the extension e-mail. ;-(

I had problems this morning, but it looks like it's back up now, and I have had my month credited. They possibly brought that bit of the site down in order to add everybody's month.
Cheers,
Steve. |

No mine neither!!
That said given the overall mediocre service I no longer rely on it and my mobile charges are excessive so I'm not that bothered and unlikely to renew the subscription. |

I have had word from TomTom that the reason they hadn't started issuing the extensions was because of the server migration. This has now been completed so you should start to see your 1 month extensions being applied.
I suspect that TomTom wanted to let people know that they were going to do something about it, but couldn't until the server switch over had been completed. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Thanks Mike for the Input. It is appreciated as we as users would never be able to get a response so quickly.
To be fair though, they need ony to have added a few extra words to the e-mail they sent out to say that it may take a few weeks, but hey ho....!

As they say hindsight is a perfect science.
A guy who used to head up a support group in a Multi-National company I used to work in has what we labeled 20-20 hindsight.
I know from experience that a lot of things happen for the right reasons but are not well thought out in the heat of the moment. I have a lot of sympathy for the TomTom technicians as we have been through a number of server upgrades here and despite all the testing it is only when you actually make the transition that you find out if it all works. That said we always had a contingency plan.
The important thing to take away from these sort of events is experience and learning what went wrong and how to prevent or minimise the effect in the future. Lets hope lessons have been learnt.
OK hand up who recognises a Mission Critical Millennium Project Manager from the above... :P _________________ Mike Barrett |
