Hi
I had to give up on the Road Angel Navigator and have bought a TT Go 700. Should get it tomorrow.
I'm planning on installing the PocketGPS camera database but I see TomTom has a camera service on a subscription basis. Without wishing to insult anyone here, is there any reason why I might want to go for the paid TT service rather than the PocketGPS one? Is it better in any way than this one or is it just a matter of paying for something that the kind people here have made available?
I have a lot to learn. |

Don't pick on me. You've said it all.
If you really want to pay, why not make a donation. _________________ Richard

This has been discussed quite a bit (You can use 'search' to find it).
General opinion is that the PocketGPS one is a lot better.
Since I have been using it, it has been updated every month without fail, whereas I don't think the TomTom one has at all (they've got bigger problems at the moment! )
Also, I doubt if TT's has the three options:- of single POI file, camera types, or full speed-zoned version. When you download the Pocket GPS database, make sure you read the instructions here to work out which files to use. (plus my icons! )
Also, don't forget the PocketGPS database is only as good as the people who use it. If you don't submit at least one new or changed camera every month, they send the boys round! :P |
