Is there any way to do this? I have been around in circle on the TomTom site and can't see a way to do it ?
Anyone had this problem and found a solution? I just want to buy the latest TTG software/maps/postcode feature

btw has the TomTom support site been down long or just today ?
I managed to download the upgrade file from the website (5.2) and I now need to go to www.ttcode.com to get a code which I am expecting to have to pay for (?) but the site is down (all day) |

Map updates are not free, you are referring to application update.
timmyo: you'll need to get in touch with TT CS, they should be able to explain how you can upgrade your old UK map to the new version, if you lost your CD with the product code try to get as much info as you can, including credit card records, delivery notes and bank statements with references to your initial purchase. |

Tim - You only need your Product Code from your Old Map to be able to get the Updated Map.
You need to follow the trail from http://www.tomtom.com/shop/upgrade.php _________________ Richard

That site is down today yet again.
Although, I think that it's the product code I was referring to as not haviong access to, and which requires my original purchase receipt to get from TomTom (and which takes 6 weeks)
I appreciate that I am only one customer, and that the 70 Euro or so of lost revenue isn't going to bankrupt them but if there is a dumber way to do this, I can't think of it.
I can't even use the updated firmware as that wants authorizing (with my product code!) too - thank god I kept a backup of my SD card before I tried to use it. |

You shouldn't need a code to update the different versions. I've gone all the way from 4.2 to 5.202 and it just upgraded. _________________ Richard

Tim,
If you've changed SD card (to a non-TomTom one), you do need to type in the activation code when you change firmware version. I suspect you had the right file but Oldboy hasn't changed SD cards.

Mark. |

Oh yes he has. I went from 128MB, to 256MB, and finally to 1GB.
The only time I activated was when I bought MOWE. _________________ Richard

So much for that idea, then. :D
Still, I'm not surprised that Tim's being asked to activate the firmware - I had to when I went from 4.42 to 5.0. Lots of others did too. Others didn't and the theory of the day was that it was down to changing SD cards. Ho hum.
Regards,
Mark. |
