The software works fine, it's just that it takes an incredibly long time to find out where it is, even if it's found four or more satellites, it still doesn't give me a position. The bars on the bottom right of the screen stay red, even if it's found 4 or 5 satellites!

I've tested the GPS receiver and it's working fine.

I have an Axim X5 (400 mhz) with Pocket PC 2002. GPS is Ambicom GPS Pro Navigation CompactFlash, with external antenna. D3 version is the latest available. I live in Paris.

I have checked the CF card with its own diagnostic software and it gets a lock in seconds, so I really think it's something to do with D3.

The weird thing is that when I use it in the morning, to go to work it gives me a position quite quickly and never loses the signal, even after long tunnels (under La Defense). When I go home in the evening, it takes the entire journey to get a lock, sometimes it gets a fix, but then can't locate me on the map and loses the fix.

Highly, thoroughly IRRITATING :x I have to keep a map book in the car in case it can't get it together and this is NOT THE POINT!

Anyway, it seems to be a bug, because it is finding loads and loads of satellites, lots of green lines on the status screen, but it can't get a fix on the map screen.

Do any of you have a suggestion or a workaround or a setting or something that I can try? I've searched this forum and found nothing about this bug. All the problems people have had have been with the software, I think it works fine... when it can get a lock!!!

I tried using SiRF, but D3 said it couldn't find the GPS.
