I bought a GlobalSat BT-338 from GPSForLess just under 4 weeks ago. All seemed fine and I charged it up over night (idn't notice if any charging light was showing). Not used it much since (4-5 hours). It currently won't turn on unless it's connected to external power. Putting a meter to the battery shows 4v (although this is obviously a no load reading). If I take the battry out, it appars to me, that the terminals on the unit won't physically touch the battery terminals. Perhaps they do but possible I'm missing a part? I am trying to get in touch with the suppliers but their website says they're moving and won't be answering the phone until 9th September. No reply from email yet either. Any suggestions? |

I'll post a picture of what the terminals look like. Not sure I'd want to bend them if they didn't need it - especially as it's less than a month old and still under warranty.

Thanks for the suggestion cootuk. When I took another look last night I could see that the terminals weren't right. The contacts had been forced backwards and had jammed in the case. A quick tweak with a toothpick and all is OK again. Phew. Now to deceide whether to send it off for a firmware update. |

Hi JonHarper,
Remember, if you are sending your BT338 to us for a firmware update it would be a good idea to mention the bent pins in a note with the product.
Members of this forum will continue to get the free update beyond the 1st September cut off date. With a small payment being made for delivery back to you.
