I've currently got TomTom 4.42 for Palm. I'm thinking of taking advantage of the upgrade to version 5. However, if I do so, will I still be able to reinstall my old (4.4) version if I want or will the registration code for the version 4 get wiped when I upgrade?
To be clear - if I do upgrade I want to be able to totally remove version 4 from my PDA (and not just trust that versions 4 and 5 will live happily together - I've a Tapwave Zodiac which officially isn't supported, so by clearing the old install I reckon I'll have the best chance of success). Therefore, if there is something from 4 that I want to use or if I do find that there is a problem with the Zod and version 5 then I'll need to reinstall it again, probably including the registration process.
If the serial/details for version 4 do get wiped by my upgrade then it might be better to just buy a new version of 5 and so get a totally seperate registration. Any ideas? |

I checked the TomTom FAQ and couldn't find a relevent answer.
As to contacting TomTom directly, that was going to be my next port of call - I just wanted to check with people here first! |

It is my understanding that if you upgrade to version 5, then officially your licence for version 4 is revoked. However, if TT4 works the same way as TT3, and you have the old activation code for version 4, then you should be able to re-activate TT4 when you re-install the software but make sure you re-install while off line.
Regards,
