How about buy a new one and make the person who broke your one pay for it, is that an idea? _________________ IPAQ 3950 Tomtom 6 with Navman 3450 sleeve v6 USA & Canada & Western Europe maps, 2gb Sandisk sd card, POIWarner V2.0.

In the good old days of B&W screens this may have been an option, however 3.5" lcds plus touch sensitive membranes, even if you couldtrack on down, which I doubt. Realistically it is a case of get the cause to cure this for you with cash. _________________ Neil |

Hi,
Is your PDA still under the 12 month warranty?
I have an Medion PNA100 PDA which I purchased 6 months ago.
I managed to damage the Touch Screen (My own stupid fault).
I contacted Medion Service Centre (Telephone Hotline 0870 7270370) and explained that I had accidently damaged the screen.
They said that they would need to evaluate the damage to give me a quote for the repair.
They arranged for the PDA to be picked up by one of the main Courier companies.
I enclosed a covering letter explaining what was damaged and also that I had caused the damage.
Four weeks later, my PDA was returned with a brand new screen and guess what? No charge! They repaired the item under warranty.
It is worth a try. They also repair items outside of warranty (at a cost). |

I forgot to mention the following.
I did not need to give proof of purchase or warranty document.
All they asked for was the serial number of the item and the approximate date of purchase. I believe the serial number is under the battery so make sure you back up the PDA to your PC as you will lose everything stored in memory (not the SD Card) when you remove the battery :D |

I called the helpline with a similar query having seen one on ebay with a damaged screen
they wanted 50 quid to look at it, and a further 70 quid to replace screen - basically not worth it! |

Sorry about my typos above and no Edit which is silly.
What I was saying was
You release the clip and pull out the ribbon (make sure your release teh clip otehrwise you will damage the ribbon, then lift the screen out. Put the new screen back in and insert the ribbon, close the clip and heypresto :D |

Now there's an idea - I have an 'old' Mio 168 which has been retired since I closed in it my car door and the screen cracked. One question though ... where on earth can you buy a replacement screen for a DIY repair? |
