Just sent my BT-338 off for the firmware upgrade, and wondered if TT V5 now shows that it is using WAAS/EGNOS ?
Just an easy way to check the upgrade.... |

Isn't WAAS/EGNOS utilisation a function of the GPS receiver rather than the navigation software? Anyway, it would not really be of much use in a street navigation program like TomTom Navigator which uses a snap-to-road feature. _________________ Kam |

as kartracer said - the program doesn't know , neither does it care, if the signal is EGNOS enhanced or not. It's a function of the receiver. _________________ Lutz

Yes - typically GPS is accurate to much less than 20 feet. EGNOS would increase that accuracy to something like 6 feet. The added accuracy is of almost no use in street navigation. |

Appreciate what people are saying, regarding the GPS hardware having the capability, but in one of Mike's articles on WAAS/EGNOS he indicated that some software packages can show the type of signal being received. At the time TT V3 didn't, others showed a signal strength with a 'D' symbol to indicate that the signal was WAAS/EGNOS. Just wondering if TT V5 now shows the type of signal being received? |
