|
|
As promised to everyone at the Wales Pocket GPS World.com Meet-up, I have produced the very latest July 2005 version of the Speed Cameras in Easy Download Format.
What's that ? I hear you say ?
No need to go through the long import process!
Just follow the instructions at the new ALK Support Website!
For those who are familiar in copying files in Explorer, it's a new simple process of copying 8 files to your Storage Card and bypassing the long import process and data download wizard. We will update these on a monthly basis. |

Dave. As far as I can see the camera names have not been modified during the conversion process. Therefore, the '@' character before the speed will probably stop the speed being announced by the TTS voice. I have been modifying the CSV files to replace the '@' by ' AT ', and also removing the colon ( : ) between the camera type and number, so that the spoken message is two syllables shorter.
Is it possible for you to at least make the '@' replacement (or fix the bug that stops the speech at that point ). Due to the likelyhood that a POI warning clashes with a direction, it would also be nice to remove the colon as well so that the warnings are more concise. _________________ Ian

We can certainly change the @ to an AT. Unfortunately the @ issue is something in the TTS engine which we don't have control over so fixing this would be a little more difficult. |

That a good idea, should make things a lot easier.
When I used to do it manually from the xls files one location used to fail all the time. Mobile van 1186 at 30, 53.70534, 0.03887, Hollym in East Yorkshire. Works OK in MS AutoRoute 2005 but no loction in CP5.
Do you know why this is? It's not a big deal at all but maybe you look at it during a tea break!!

PS Thanks for the EU upgrade and the PM about 'phone support!! |

It might be to do with the @ sign and the grid ref. Not too sure, but hopefully it'll work better now on that camera. If you do get a problem again, let me know! |

I am still on CoPilot 4 - is it possible to have an updated version of the .xls files with the '@' replaced by 'AT' as part of the normal camera download files too?

I'd like to ask also if it is possible to remove the colon from the camera name, to make the camera names read a lot better on CoPilot - it's rather annoying to hear "GATSO Colon one two three four" being read out by TTS every time...

When I originally downloaded the cameras using the old method I had them as Custom POI's and checked the box for these to be alerted; which POI category do these camera's go in to ? |

|

Hi Dave,
Thanks for taking the effort to do this. Certainly speeds up the process. I wondered if there was a similar method to update the safety cameras in the Desktop version that accompanies Co Pilot? It's important to keep the two in sync especially if you use the data download feature of the desktop version to update the pocket pc version.
Thanks,
John |

A great improvement Dave. It will now be easy to update each month, before it was much too daunting a task

Its a shame that us CoPilot 4 owners and users aren't getting the same treatment. I don't intend to go into the full unload/reload just to have some extra POI's on my system. So I use a Road Angel instead. Plus I'm fortunate enough to have the free used of a Tom Tom Go 300 and 500. Far easier to play with...
But if some clever person out there can do the same for us CP4 owners.....I'll go for the easy downloads option. |

|
|
Hello,
Having just upgraded to CP5 and downloaded the cameras, I have just read this thread and am now not sure if the notifications are going to work or not. Do I have to change the @ to AT and remove any colons before transferring the database into CP desktop?
I haven't had chance to test it in anger yet but will need it next week.
TIA
Dave |
