Hi there,
Aimed at Mike if possible but may be of interest to others.
Mike - you mentioned in another thread in May that there was potentially a map of Australia coming out in the future. Have you heard anymore about this at all? I'm off to Oz in December on a driving holiday and wondered if I could simply buy the new SD card, plug in and take the unit over with me?
I've queried with TomTom but to no avail in a responce from them after a week
Any help would be great -
Cheers and thanks again for all the hard work done by admin and mods

Mate, the map of Australia is available.
TomTom are selling the GO300 here currently. Allegedly the 500 will be available soon but they will not be releasing the 700
They Australia map is up to date (as much as a map ever is...) and covers the whole country on a 128MB SD card.
Hope this helps. |

Hi Mikeman - just had a reply back from TomTom
Dear Mr Kirk,
TomTom management has decided that Australian maps would only be sold to TomTom Go users within Australia only at this time. We do not know if these maps will be available in the future to users outside Australia.
With best regards,
The TomTom Customer Support Team
.. will have to wait and see - thanks for the reply though fella. Might be cheaper to buy the unit when I get over there! How much are they going for in Oz dollars? |

Charlie,
The Go 300 retails for around $1000.00 AUD.
Would be much cheaper if TomTom would sell the maps...

Hi
I am off to Australia on Saturday 9th of July and going to hire a car for a tour along the Sunshine Coast in Queensland and then the Brisbane area.
I have a TomTom Go 300 which I wish to take with me, I have contacted TTG Support to ask if I can buy the maps in Australia?
Otherwise it is a complete waste of technology £369 worth

Hi guys...
Is there really no option apart from to buy the software out there?? Can a user willing to pay not get hold of a ligimate SD card with Australia on it? Seems crazy that it can't be bought?
Will investigate further with TomTom - but surely.. if the maps exist - on SD card.. then they can be purchased?
Clocks ticking till we go and getting desperate..

Just out of curiosity.............
What happens if you have a TT700 and take it to Oz - could you get maps for it
It seems a bit odd that they don't intend to sell the 700. _________________ TT700 - Memory Map 2004 - NavMan iPaq |

There is not a lot of point in selling the 700 in Australia. If the entire country map fits on a 256Mb SD card than there is no requirement for a big storage device.
The only thing really missing then is the remote control which is an optional extra on the 500. I suspect that there would not be many takers paying the extra for storage theyu wont ever use. _________________ Mike Barrett |

So in essence even though TomTom operate in Australia, and the maps exist for Australia, my TomTom cannot be used over there. At a loss..
Still loving the unit here in the UK - but come on TomTom - it's a simple notion of Consumer market. People willing to pay for the maps that already exist??
Thanks for all the hard work again on the forum guys.
